The 'Glow' we Get From Excercising May Last 12 Hours

Reported on MedicineNet.com, new research suggests that "when it comes to boosting your mood, exercise is the gift that keeps on giving." The afterglow a workout brings to people may last far longer than the hour or so that's been previously assumed.

Dr. Jeremy Sibold, study lead researcher, says that moderate intensity aerobic exercise improves mood immediately and those improvements can last up to 112 hours. The findings were presented this week at the annual meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine in Seattle.

This is the only study that has tracked the mood-boosting effect of exercise for a very long period of time. The study showed that even moderate aerobic exercise has the potential to mitigate the daily stress that results in your mood being disturbed.

Men and women seemed to benefit equally, and the researchers noted that the fitness level of the participant didn't seem to matter. The findings point to exercise as a cheap, easily accessible tool against blue moods and even depression.
